Our Points of Agenda

Programs

The Omega Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is dedicated to implementing programs of service that augment the social, economic, and educational well-being of the St. Augustine community.

The program motif for 2018-2022 is Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service. The International program consists of five program targets that are designed to forward the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

The five program targets for 2018-2022 are as follow:

Target 1: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action- Chapter members will focus on higher education emphasizing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Members will promote, market, and encourage students in the St. Augustine community and surrounding counties to attend HBCUs as a feasible measure.

Target 2: Womens Healthcare and Wellness- Chapter members will raise community awareness in the city of St. Augustine of disparaging health issues affecting African American women. The focus areas are breast cancer awareness and prevention, heart health, nutrition and wellness, and care for the caregivers.

Target 3: Building Your Economic Legacy- Chapter members will highlight financial planning, asset accumulation, and wealth building including savings and investments, managing debt, and repairing credit.

Target 4: The Arts!- Chapter members will present arts enrichment and culture to students in the city of St. Augustine and surrounding counties by focusing on visual and performing arts. And by exposing talent through the exploration of writing, entertainers, and a myriad of other artists.

Target 5: Global Impact- Chapter members will participate in programming created to enhance the international imprint of the organization. Similarly, foundation members will engage in partnerships with Soles 4 Souls, Lions Club International, and Pillowcase Project to provide assistance to the underserved in international areas populated with people of color.

The signature project is #CAP which stands for College Admissions Process. This project is devised to help students in their efforts to attend college by implementing an interactive approach that consists of all the steps from exploring different colleges to completing the application process.

In addition to 5 program targets, The Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service platform also consists of Community Impact Days. Chapter members will engage in coinciding activities that will benefit their local communities and continue to uphold our commitment to lifelong service to all mankind.
